May 14

There was one vehicle theft reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.

Pepper spray: At 12:28 p.m. in the 3100 block of 23rd Avenue South, there was a report that a female juvenile stated she was pepper-sprayed by two unknown females. The juvenile female stated that she did not want to be a victim of assault.

Gift card scam: At 2:50 p.m. in the 32000 block of 10th Place Southwest, a man reported that he got a call from someone claiming to be his phone provider. The victim said that they told him he could get a new phone if he sent $420 in gift cards. The man proceeded to send gift cards to the person who called him, and then he realized it was a scam.

May 15

There was one vehicle theft reported, and one vehicle was recovered on this day.

Large school fight: At 12:24 p.m. at a Federal Way school, there was a report that a large group of about 20 students fought each other in the school lunchroom. This altercation stems from a long history of dissension between two feuding groups in the Afghan community. There were no victims or injuries reported. All of the involved people live at the same apartment complex. After school, officers conducted extra patrol checks, and the juveniles all appeared to start another altercation before being broken up by officers. The school Afghan liaison is to be contacted and advised of the incident.

May 16

There was one vehicle theft reported, and one vehicle was recovered on this day.

Gun found during traffic stop: At 12:23 a.m. in the 1100 block of South 320th Street, officers conducted a traffic stop and observed a handgun inside the vehicle. The subject was arrested for a concealed pistol license violation.

Brandishing firearm: At 5:37 p.m. in the 31000 block of Pacific Highway South, a caller reported that he observed a driver of a vehicle waving a firearm and pointing it at the passenger of the same vehicle. No description of the occupants. Vehicle gone upon arrival.

May 17

There were two vehicle thefts reported, and one vehicle was recovered on this day.

Homicide: At 1:22 a.m. in the 32100 block of 18th Avenue Southwest, there was a report of sounds of illegal discharge. As officers were en route, dispatch advised that there was a subject who had been shot and was on the ground. A homicide was reported. Officers arrived and provided life-saving efforts. While providing life-saving efforts, another caller stated that his son was inside the apartment unit and had been shot as well. Click here to read more.

Assault with a bat: At 2:12 p.m. in the 29000 block of Pacific Highway South, there was a report that officers responded to an assault with a bat. A suspect was located and arrested. The victim was transported for medical care.

May 18

There were four vehicle thefts reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.

Vehicle used in robbery located: At 4:59 a.m. in the 28000 block of Military Road South, there was a report that officers discovered a vehicle that had been reported to have been used in a robbery. Officers located the vehicle and arrested the driver.

May 19

There was one vehicle theft reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.

Gas station robbery: At 2:27 a.m. in the 31000 block of Pacific Highway South, there was a report of an armed robbery at a gas station.

Business robbery: At 3:45 a.m. in the 28000 block of Military Road South, there was a report of a robbery with a firearm at a business.

Business robbery: At 4:56 p.m. in the 32000 block of Pacific Highway South, there was a report of a robbery with a firearm. A suspect entered the store, and the suspect displayed a silver in color handgun and demanded that the employee open the cash register. The employee did not comply, and the suspect left with nothing. The employee believed the suspect was a regular. A K9 track was conducted, but it was unsuccessful.

Robbery and kidnapping: At 6:05 p.m. in the 35000 block of Enchanted Parkway South, officers were dispatched to a reported robbery that had occurred about one hour prior. The victim said that he was robbed at L.A. Fitness by multiple male suspects. During the incident, one of the suspects brandished a knife and ordered the victim into a vehicle. The victim said he was then held against his will and made to pull $500 cash out of an ATM. Probable cause was found for first-degree robbery and first-degree kidnapping. The case remains inactive and under further investigation.

May 20

There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.

Starchase GPS projectile deployed: At 12:10 a.m. in the 32000 block of Pacific Highway South, an unlicensed vehicle was observed driving recklessly. After failing to yield to a traffic stop, a Starchase GPS projectile was successfully deployed onto the vehicle. The projectile ended up idling in the roadway on a dead-end street. The vehicle fled. The projectile was later recovered and will be submitted to King County for latent prints.

Fight: At 12:49 p.m. at a Federal Way school, two students were involved in a fight during passing period. The two were arguing near a restroom when one student began striking the other in the head and face. Both students were taken to separate officers where the school administration took over.
