State Rep. Linda Kochmar has announced that she will seek re-election to Position 1 in the Washington State House of Representatives representing the 30th District.

Twice voted “Best City Leader” by Federal Way Mirror readers, Kochmar, a Republican, has a record of listening to the people of her community and bringing money home to help her district.

Last year, Kochmar helped bring $5 million back to the communities she serves, including $1.5 million to repair the currently under construction Redondo Boardwalk.

Kochmar is especially interested in providing an environment in which small businesses can thrive, saying that we all benefit when small business succeeds.

“It is a privilege to serve the citizens of the 30th District, and I would be honored to continue to do so in Olympia,” Kochmar said in a statement. “I have always worked hard to provide the best for our community by making fiscally responsible decisions. I am concerned about our families who are struggling to survive in this down economy and I am concerned about our schools that are facing severe funding issues. In addition, we have to constantly find ways to ease congestion and improve our local economy to create jobs.”

Kochmar is a longtime leader in the city of Federal Way, where she’s served as mayor, deputy mayor, and chair of all of the City Council committees.

As a member of the state House, Kochmar serves on the following committees: Transportation, Capital Budget, Business, Insurance and Finance, as well as the Statewide Committees on Homelessness and Aging.

Kochmar will host a kick-off for her re-election campaign on April 17 from 2-4 p.m. at the Twin Lakes Golf and Country Club (3583 SW 320th St.).
