Murder suspect charged in death of roommate

Federal Way resident Adan Rodriguez-Sarinana, 21, was charged with second-degree murder June 9.

Rodriguez-Sarinana allegedly stabbed his roommate, Jose Alfredo Jimenez Lara, 10 times in the chest and back, causing the victim’s death, according to charging papers. Around 1 p.m. June 3 a witnesses saw Lara flee a unit at the Cascade Ridge apartment complex, 1900 S.W. Campus Drive, yelling for help, according to the records. Two witnesses also saw Lara being dragged into an upstairs apartment as he was bleeding.

An officer arrived on scene to find Rodriguez-Sarinana in possession of three knives — one which was wet with blood. He found Lara rolled up in a carpet inside the men’s apartment. The officer attempted to perform CPR, but the effort was not successful.

Lara died of multiple stab wounds, specifically two that perforated the heart and two more that punctured the liver, according to charging documents. Rodriguez-Sarinana provided a statement to police, but it is unclear the motive for the killing. He told police he and his roommate had disagreements in the past and Lara was unarmed when Rodriguez-Sarinana attacked the victim.

Rodriguez- Sarinana is being held on $1 million bail.
