Man, 22, dies in Federal Way shooting

A suspect was detained without incident, according to police.

Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a young man the morning of Aug. 7 in a neighborhood west of Celebration Park in Federal Way.

Federal Way PD officers responded at about 10:40 a.m. to a reported shooting near 400 South 325th Place, according to FWPD Cmdr. Kurt Schwan.

They arrived to find a 22-year-old man with an apparent gunshot wound. Officers delivered aid to him until relieved by fire and medic personnel. The victim was taken to Harborview, where he died from his injuries, Schwan said.

Based on a description, police found a suspect near the 1100 block of South 320th Street. That 19-year-old man was arrested without incident and taken to the police department. Officers also recovered a handgun.

At the time of the shooting, Schwan said, the suspect was accompanied by a man who left the area and has not yet been found. That man was described as Black or Pacific Islander, with short dark hair, in his late teens or early twenties, Schwan said.
