Federal Way police report that an 18-year-old male died of multiple gunshot wounds Thursday.

The King County Medical Examiner identified the victim as Deshawn Boykin. The death was ruled a homicide.

Three adult suspects — one female and two males — were served with search warrants and apprehended Friday morning in Tacoma with the assistance of the Valley SWAT Team. The suspects were booked into King County Jail for investigation of murder, according to police.

About 6:15 p.m. Friday, police and SWAT team officers confronted a fourth suspect near the 1400 block of South 320th Street in Federal Way.

The suspect, a white 35-year-old male from the Renton area, was shot by police while attempting to flee, according to police. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. No officers or citizens were injured in the incident.

The hunt for suspects began at 8:43 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17. Federal Way police were called to the area of 31500 1st Avenue South, near the Greystone Meadows Apartments, based on reports of gunshots. Officers arrived on the scene, and at first were unable to locate a disturbance or crime, according to police.

About 10 minutes later, police were notified that the 18-year-old male victim with gunshot wounds had been dropped off at St. Francis Hospital.

Police interviewed the victim’s brother, who had transported the victim to the hospital. Detectives worked through the night to locate the crime scene, interview witnesses, collect evidence and determine suspects, according to police.

The Valley Investigative Team is conducting an investigation of Friday’s officer-involved shooting. One officer from Federal Way and one officer from Renton have been placed on paid administrative leave, based on standard procedure in officer-involved shootings.
