Kumon 2022 Spelling Bee winners achieve s-u-c-c-e-s-s

This year marks the 10th annual spelling bee contest.

Last week, Kumon of Federal Way hosted its 10th annual Spelling Bee contest on Oct. 19.

Students in kindergarten through fifth grade from the Federal Way area and surrounding communities were honored with prizes and awards for their spelling success. The grand prize scholarship winner is Haremela Tesfaye, a fifth grade student at Kent Lab Academy.

The 2022 Spelling Bee winners are:

Kindergarten:

Gold – Ved Sabhaya, Basic Steps Learning Center

Silver – Mehret Eskinder, St. Philomena School

First grade:

Gold – Kahan Sabhaya, PCA

Silver – Francesca Mamerto, Brigadoon Elementary

Bronze – Catherine Mungai

Second grade:

Gold – Eric Luong, Woodmont Elementary

Silver – Matthew Pham, North Hill Elementary

Bronze – Johny Nguyen, Brown’s Point Elementary

Third grade:

Gold – Noah Eskinder, St. Philomena School

Silver – Jeeven Dhillon, Evergreen Heights Elementary

Bronze – Francis Mamerto, Brigadoon Elementary

Fourth grade:

Gold – Lilia Nguyen, Brown’s Point Elementary

Silver – Eyueal Nigusse, McMicken Heights Elementary

Fifth grade:

Gold – Roshnai Roy, Lake Grove Elementary

Silver – Makbel Eskinder, St. Philomena School

Bronze – Aditya Mohan, Nautilus School
