First homicide victim of 2020 identified by King County medical examiners

The 19-year-old was found fatally shot in a vehicle at the Silver Shadow Apartments on Jan. 6.

King County medical examiners have identified the 19-year-old fatally shot on Jan. 6 in Federal Way.

Donovan McDonald’s cause of death was a gunshot wound to the torso and his manner of death was deemed a homicide.

On the morning of Jan. 6, officers responded to reports of sounds of an illegal discharge in the area of the Silver Shadow Apartments at 27606 Pacific Highway S., according to FWPD Cmdr. Kurt Schwan.

Police then found 19-year-old McDonald in a vehicle at the Federal Way apartments, and despite first responders’ life-saving efforts, McDonald was pronounced dead at the scene.

This incident marks the fourth fatal shooting in Federal Way in three weeks, and the first homicide of 2020.

At this time, Federal Way police do not have any additional details or suspect information to release.
