Federal Way police officer Jeff Vanderveer was injured while responding to a call at approximately 11:30 p.m. Oct. 10 at 2534 S. 317th St.

Vanderveer responded to a scene in which a woman was violating a domestic violence protection order. He witnessed the suspect violating the order and attempted to stop her before she drove from the scene, according to police documents.

When Vanderveer identified himself as an officer, the suspect accelerated in the large truck she was driving and struck Vanderveer, according to police documents. He was transported to the hospital with a dislocated right shoulder and was later released.

The suspect was taken into custody. Police have submitted the case to the King County Prosecutor’s Office with probable cause to charge her with second-degree assault, spokeswoman Cathy Schrock said.
