A Federal Way Police officer was shot at on Friday afternoon while stopped at a traffic light, according to police.
Around 3:15 p.m. Sept. 3, an officer was stopped at a traffic light on Pacific Highway South near S. 330th Street driving a marked police SUV when a vehicle pulled up alongside the officer, according to Cmdr. Kurt Schwan of Federal Way Police.
A person from the vehicle then ambushed the officer and began shooting at him, Schwan said. Multiple rounds hit the officer’s vehicle, however the officer was not hit nor injured.
The suspect vehicle — a silver sedan — fled the scene and while officers did chase the vehicle, Schwan said the suspect vehicle escaped.
Federal Way detectives are actively investigating the incident, he added.
