Federal Way Mirror Male Athlete of the Week for Oct. 22: Luke Dalrymple

Decatur senior won boys tennis doubles NPSL 4A championship, advancing to district tournament.

Decatur High School senior Luke Dalrymple, tennis, was selected as the Federal Way Mirror Male Athlete of the Week for Oct. 22.

Q: What is your favorite subject/class in school?

A: Accounting.

Q: What other activities/hobbies do you enjoy?

A: Baseball, piano and board games.

Q: Person who has helped you succeed the most?

A: My parents, tennis coach John Cassens and baseball coach Chris Fox.

Q: The best advice I’ve ever been given by a coach is:

A: “All your success comes from hard work and the right mindset.”

Q: Describe your pre-match ritual and your favorite post-match meal?

A: Pre-game: I eat gluten-free pancakes. Post-game: Tacos.

Q: Song you currently can’t stop listening to?

A: “Sir Duke” by Stevie Wonder.

From the sideline: Decatur senior Luke Dalrymple is a four-year letter winner in boys tennis. This season, he and his doubles partner completed the NPSL regular season undefeated. Luke and his partner won the doubles championship in the NPSL 4A post-season tournament and are advancing to the West Central District tournament as one of the highest seeds. Luke is also a member of Decatur’s baseball team, earning All-League honors when the Gators won their post season playoff game last spring. Off of the field, he is involved with his church youth group activities. In the classroom, Luke has earned a 3.96 Cumulative Grade Point Average as a full-time Running Start student.
