A Federal Way man hit and killed another man who was standing in a freeway lane early Wednesday morning.

Washington State Patrol is investigating the incident, which occurred at 12:09 a.m., Oct. 12 on State Route 18.

The 70-year-old Federal Way man was driving westbound in his Silver 2005 K2 pickup, just past State Route 181, when he struck a 25-year-old man from Tacoma, who was standing in the lane, troopers said.

The driver wasn’t injured and troopers say it doesn’t appear drugs or alcohol were involved.

The road was blocked for about three hours following the incident. Charges have yet to be filed.
