Federal Way business owners give to FWPD’s Positive Ticket program

From staff reports

The Federal Way Police Department’s Positive Ticket program has a lot of fans, two of whom made sure officers can give tiny do-gooders a tasty treat.

Jack Walsh, owner of the Federal Way Sub Zero Ice Cream & Yogurt, and Matthew Jarvis, financial planner and managing partner at Jarvis Financial, got together Feb. 18 to present Federal Way Police Department Deputy Chief Steve Neal with $500 in gift certificates for Positive Tickets.

“As long-time business owners, we are both excited to support such a wonderful program,” Jarvis said. “It has also been nice to see Federal Way getting positive news coverage from literally around the nation.”

The program intends to foster a trusting relationship between police and youth in the community by rewarding good behavior. Officers who see kids doing something good can reward them with a “positive ticket” that earns the kids things like a free pass to a movie, a skating session or a day at Wild Waves.

Or, now, an ice cream cone.
