Cambridge information sessions on Feb. 23
Cambridge Preparatory Program at Federal Way High School is offering two informational meetings. The first will be at 6 p.m. on Feb. 23 in the Sacajawea Middle School cafeteria. The second will be at 6 p.m. on Feb. 24 at the Lakota Middle School cafeteria.

Clips from Chief Financial Officer Sally McLean’s budget presentations to the school board are available on the district’s Web site at www.fwps.org/info/budget/resources.html. This includes her Jan. 27 explanation of Local Effort Assistance. State funding this year is about $5 million less then what the district currently receives.
ECEAP and Head Start enrolling
Federal Way Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program and Head Start are accepting applications for next year.
The programs provide free preschool education, health and nutrition services and family support to eligible low-income children and their families. Eligibility is based on the child’s age and the family’s annual income. Priority will be given to children turning age 4 before Sept. 1. Call (253) 945-2379.
Black college reps come to Federal Way
Representatives from 15 historically black colleges will visit Federal Way High School from 8 to 10 a.m. Feb. 4.
Students from all over the district can share their portfolios, meet college representatives and potentially earn scholarships.
Students must bring a head shot photo, sealed official high school transcript, 300-word essay, awards and certificates, WASL results, three letters of recommendation, SAT/ACT score and community service information in their portfolios.
Free SAT seminar
For students taking the PSAT, SAT or ACT tests, there will be a free seminar at the Federal Way Regional Library from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Feb. 13. Call (253) 838-3668.
Spaghetti feed
The third annual Spaghetti Dinner and Bingo Night will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 6 at Sequoyah Middle School.
The event, hosted by the SMS PTSA will raise money for emergency preparedness including blankets, water, shovels and flashlights.
Tickets are $6 on pre-order and $7 at the door or $25 for a family of five. Bingo and raffle tickets sold separately. Call (253) 945-3895
