The police report states his pants were unzipped and soiled. When asked his name, he sat up briefly but then fell back in the laying position. Police said he was unable to balance himself and was impaired beyond the point of not being able to care for himself. The male victim was living with the suspect’s mother for three years, off and on, and the two were in a relationship. However, the suspect had left before police could arrest him for assault.

Park patron threatens man with aggressive dogs: At 2:48 p.m. on Jan. 11 in the 31500 block of First Ave. S., a man called 911 because he and his five dogs were threatened by another park patron. The pipe belonged to the store’s freezer unit, which was located outside in the back of the store. The pipe was between the freezer and condenser units and because it was removed, 60 pounds of freon was spilled from the unit. The total damage is estimated to cost $2,000 to fix the unit and replace the pipe. Police viewed video surveillance but could not identify a suspect because it was too dark.

Man kicks, chokes girlfriend: At 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 11 in the 32800 block of 20th Ave. SW, a 56-year-old man was arrested for choking and throwing his 45-year-old girlfriend across the room. The woman called police via a neighbor’s cell phone. When police arrived, the officer noticed her voiced sounded “strained and squeaky.”

She explained that her live-in boyfriend of one year and six months choked her at their residence after an argument over canceling a vacation trip. As she was talking on the phone to her friend, the man took the phone and threw it across the room, causing it to break. He then kicked her in the buttocks and told her to get out.

When she said she was going to call police, he choked her and caused her vision to go blurry, the police report states. The suspect denied kicking or strangling his girlfriend but admitted to breaking her cell phone. When asked if he had access to weapons, the girlfriend said yes but it didn’t matter because she would be moving out.

Dogs escape to neighbor’s yard: At 4:38 p.m. on Jan. 11 in the 30700 block of 12th Place SW, a woman called to complain that her neighbor’s pit bull-like dogs were in her yard again. The yard has a chain-link fence and the dogs are able to get in but not out. She reported they then dig holes and she’s fearful of her other three dogs going near them.

The dogs belong to a woman who has been cited at least three other times for failure to keep her dogs at home and get them licensed. On her fourth contact from police, she was issued a civil infraction for public nuisance, trespassing animals and failure to license. When police called the woman to let her know her dogs were on her neighbor’s property, she yelled “Jesus Christ” at the officer and “proceeded to rant about a fire she just had in her home that same week.” After the neighbor removed her dogs from the woman’s yard, she told police she would be getting rid of the dogs the following day.

The neighbor told police she regularly cares for the woman because she lives alone. She had recently filled a prescription for the woman three days ago but noticed she had already taken the entire 30 day supply.

The neighbor said the woman does not eat and has difficulty driving home from church. When interviewed by police, the woman was able to comprehend the conversation but immediately forgets after. Her residence was livable but police noted random prescription pills scattered around.

She said the man had, what appeared to be, his daughter with him and she was running around the lobby. When his daughter ran close to the girl’s sister, the man held his hands out to her and touched her at the same time. The teenager told him to stop and he walked away without saying anything. The police report states the older sister thought he was attempting to kidnap her little sister.

After he choked her at an apartment, the woman ran outside to the grocery store and hid behind some pallets as she called 911. She stated she did not want the man to go to jail because they have children in common but let officers photograph her neck and write a statement for her, which she did not sign.

He said he was afraid that her mother would call police and accuse him of trying to break into their apartment and assault his girlfriend.

He also told police she has a cut on her wrist that he was not responsible for. Police contacted a neighbor who witnessed the events and she confirmed that the boy did nothing wrong and that she had heard his girlfriend’s mother yelling that she was going to call police on the boy for trying to break into their apartment. Police went to St. Francis Hospital to locate the boy’s girlfriend but she was not there. No one has been arrested or charged at this time.

Aggressive man committed: At 7:46 p.m. on Jan. 10 in the 31200 block of 23rd Ave. S., officers responded to an elderly man suffering from dementia who had refused care but was in dire need.

Upon arrival, police saw the man sitting asleep in a chair with brown feces running down his leg. As soon as they placed him on a gurney, he became combative and cursed vigorously. He said he was depressed because he is homeless and is “tired of the bullsh*t.” He also said he has a history of mental health problems.

Drunk woman has a seizure: At 11:15 a.m. on Jan. 9 in the 34500 block of Ninth Ave. S., nursing staff in the emergency room at St. Francis Hospital called police for a possible abuse-to-patient case.

A 26-year-old woman was brought into the emergency room by her 20-year-old brother because she was having a seizure from an unknown injury or illness. The nurse observed blood on her brother’s shorts. He said she had been drinking heavily last night and when she came home she started having seizures.

Her brother insisted there was no fight or assault and that the blood on his shorts was from a cut on his thumb he received while trying to carry her to the car. Police confirmed that neither brother or sister had any visible injuries but had Kent police do a welfare check at their residence. The officer said there were no signs of suspicious activity and their statements matched the story.
