City to host open house for Housing Action Plan development Sept. 16

Community open house from 4:30-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16 at the Performing Arts and Event Center.

The City of Federal Way is hosting a community open house Sept. 16 to gather public input on the developing Housing Action Plan.

The open house is from 4:30-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16 at the Performing Arts and Event Center (31510 Pete von Reichbauer Way S.).

Federal Way’s Housing Action Plan (HAP) is an outline of actions the city can take to encourage housing production, greater housing diversity and expand housing choices of residents of all income levels.

The plan includes a housing needs assessment, input from community members and stakeholders, and review of housing policies in the city.

Housing objectives include promotion of new market-rate and affordable housing options; encouragement of home ownership and equitable housing; to plan for Federal Way’s forecasted growth; and to preserve the existing affordable housing in the city.
