Child injured after car crashes into tree | Police blotter

Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log March 10-15.

March 10

Unwanted porch guest: At about 3:11 a.m. near the 2200 block of South Star Lake Road, a suspect entered a closed fenced porch area of an occupied residence and refused to leave. De-escalation was not successful and the suspect was arrested.

Fuel theft: At about 7:44 p.m. near the 31900 block of 3rd Lane SW, an unknown suspect drilled a hole in the gas tank in an attempt to steal the vehicle’s fuel. The fuel leaked all over the parking lot surface and into a nearby city drain. South King Fire was able to contain the spill. No witnesses or security footage available.

March 11

Police car damaged: At about 1 a.m. near the 30800 block of Pacific Highway South, an unknown suspect damaged a parked and unoccupied police vehicle. The vehicle was keyed and the exhaust tip was loosened. The damage estimate is about $600. Police are continuing to investigate.

Suspect assaults officer: At about 2:45 a.m. near the 800 block of South 310th Place, a suspect wielding a stick damaged multiple vehicles. The suspect threw a rock at an occupied vehicle window, assaulting another victim, then continued throwing rocks at cars. The suspect then approached another person and assaulted them with the stick. As officers attempted to stop the assault, the suspect assaulted a police officer with a blunt object. The suspect was arrested.

March 12

Man cited for carrying pistol: At about 7:51 a.m. near the 31500 block of Pete von Reichbauer Way South, officers contacted a man in a suspicious vehicle behind the location. The vehicle had no license plate and a pistol was seen in the center console area. The man was removed from the vehicle and found to have another pistol concealed in his pants pocket. The man was cited and released for not having a concealed pistol license.

March 13

Car crashes into tree: At about 5:36 a.m. near the 35800 block of 16th Avenue South, officers responded to a single vehicle that crashed off the roadway into a tree. A female child in the car had visible injuries to her face and she was taken to St. Francis Hospital. Facial and spinal injuries are suspected. No impairment was suspected of the driver. This case is under felony investigation.

Home burglary: At about 9:05 p.m. near the 1800 block of South 330th Street, a family returned home and saw their front window was broken. The front door was also unlocked. They found multiple items from the home were stolen. No suspects identified yet.

March 14

Glass shattering suspect: At about 7:46 a.m. near the 2100 block of SW 336th Street, officers were dispatched to a commercial alarm. On scene, they found a broken window at a business and an employee provided video of the suspect. Then, officers heard another window break across from their location and found the same suspect walking away. The suspect was arrested and found to have two warrants. He was booked into the Kent Regional Justice Center.

Gun on school campus: At about 2:11 p.m. near the 35800 block of 16th Avenue South, a juvenile was found with a firearm on campus.

Stolen guitar: At about 7:13 p.m. near the 1900 block of S. Commons, a man entered a shop inside The Commons mall and stole a $320 guitar. The suspect was not located.

March 15

Fire at mall: At about 2:47 a.m. near the 1900 block of South Commons, a man started a fire under a covered section of The Commons mall. After officers extinguished the fire, the man was found to have two warrants. He was booked into SCORE Jail.
