Car transporting person with gunshot wound crashes in Federal Way

Police say the victim was shot by another person inside the car.

A car transporting a person who was shot in the back was involved in a collision on Monday afternoon, according to Federal Way Police.

Just before 1 p.m. June 6, Federal Way officers responded to reports of a collision along Pacific Highway South near South 336th Street, according to Federal Way Police Cmdr. Kurt Schwan. A person involved in the collision told police they had been transporting a victim, who was shot in the back, to the hospital.

The victim is reportedly in his late teens or early 20s, police say.

On scene, officers provided aid to the wounded man until relieved by fire and medic crews arrived. He was transported to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition.

The other occupants of the vehicle fled the area on foot, Schwan said.

Evidence at the scene shows the male was shot by another person in the vehicle. Police do not know when the shooting occurred, where the man was shot and when the occupants began transporting him to the hospital, Schwan aid.

Detectives are assisting with the investigation. Pacific Highway South was closed for a short time and has reopened.
