Brian Wilson honored for service

Federal Way city manager and police chief Brian Wilson has won an award for his contributions to the community.

The Valley Cities Counseling and Consultation 2010 Community Achievement Award for Collaboration was awarded to Wilson based on his involvement with the greater Federal Way Community.

“Your passion has been to help people receive needed services rather than be incarcerated,” Faith Richie, Valley Cities’ CEO, told Wilson. “Your compassion and spirit of collaboration challenges us all to step up and do the same, and we are proud to recognize you for it.”

Wilson serves as the 2010 chair of Valley Cities’ board of directors. He’s been involved with the board since 2001. Since 1997, he has teamed with Valley Cities and Federal Way Youth and Family Services to help troubled families and mentally ill individuals.

Wilson currently oversees approximately 350 Federal Way employees and the city’s $43 million budget.

He will be presented with the award March 26 at Emerald Downs, in Auburn, at the Valley Cities’ 6th Annual Community Awards and Auction Dinner.

Valley Cities is a community behavioral health center with outpatient clinics in Auburn, Federal Way, Kent and Renton.
