South King Fire and Rescue responded to several significant incidents in regard to fireworks in the communities of Des Moines, Federal Way and unincorporated King County.

Despite the fireworks ban, during the time frame of July 3 to July 6, South King Fire and Rescue responded to 15 fireworks-related fires within the city limits of Federal Way. One significant burn injury occurred with no reported property damage estimates.

The department responded also to four fireworks-related fires within the city limits of Des Moines with damage estimates at $8,500 from a garage fire.

There were also eight fireworks-related fires in unincorporated King County with damage estimates to be approximately $100. To date, South King Fire and Rescue has responded to a total of 40 fireworks-related incidents this year.
