Community Coffee Chat with Valley Cities: From 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. May 29, come together to learn about the fentanyl crisis and learn what Valley Cities is doing with community leaders to combat it. This event will take place at the Valley Cities Administrative Building, located at 33405 8th Avenue South in Federal Way.

Pride flag raising: Join the city of Federal Way to celebrate the raising of the Pride flag at 9 a.m. May 31 at City Hall. The flag raising kicks off the beginning of Pride month, which commemorates the Stonewall Riots of 1968.

Arts Explosion Festival: The Arts Explosion Festival is back for round two this year with an extended event schedule and new features. Senior Commission Connection: Join the Federal Way Senior Commission from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 5 at the Federal Way Community Center to learn about their activities and participate in a discussion on a new topic each month.

South King Fire 75 Year Celebration: South King Fire has come a long way since its inception 75 years ago, starting with just one fire engine and a handful of dedicated volunteers. Today, South King Fire has seven fire stations and more than 150 firefighters serving a growing population of over 160,000 residents across Des Moines, Federal Way, and unincorporated King County. Save the date and join South King Fire at one of its 75th-anniversary open houses: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 8 at Station 67, 2238 S. 223rd St., Des Moines; and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 15 at Station 62, 31617 1st Ave. S., Federal Way. Juneteenth Celebration and Recognition: At noon June 18, head to City Hall to commemorate Juneteenth. The holiday acknowledges the freedom of Black Americans and their liberation from slavery. Juneteenth is the oldest celebration recognizing President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation, which freed all enslaved individuals in the United States.
