Branch Out at the Pacific Bonsai Museum: Hosted at the former Weyerhaeuser headquarters on Oct. 1 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Beautiful bonsai, live entertainment, tempting treats and libations, and a raise the paddle, all in support of the Pacific Bonsai Museum.

Coffee with a Cop: Oct. 4 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Starbucks located on 164 Southwest Campus Drive. No agenda or speeches, just an opportunity to ask questions and build relationships with the officers who serve our community.

Ribbon cutting for Olympic View K-8: Federal Way Public Schools invites scholars, families and community to celebrate the completion of construction of the new school building on Oct. 4 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. at the school, located at 2626 SW 327th Street.

Burlington Store Opening: The new store location’s ribbon cutting will be on Oct. 6 at The Commons mall before they open the doors for the first time at 8 a.m. The store will share some gifts and gift cards to customers that weekend and present a donation to a nearby school through AdoptAClassroom.org.

Fright Fest at Wild Waves begins: Starting on Oct. 6, visit Wild Waves to enjoy Fright Fest every weekend in October. Family-friendly fun is available during the day, and new Fright by Night activities are there for a scary good time for older guests in the evening.

Mayor’s Day of Concern, Food Drive: Oct. 7 at 10 a.m. Every year, the city works with the Multi-Service Center’s Federal Way Food Bank to collect food for those who need it in the community. To learn more, call 253-838-6810 or visit www.mschelps.org.

The Soul of a Woman 4 benefit concert: Four musical artists are sharing tribute performances at the Performing Arts and Event Center at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 7 to benefit the Rivkin Foundation for ovarian and breast cancer research and to bring awareness to the impact of breast cancer in the Black community. The event will also feature live painting.

Indigenous People’s Day: Free lectures to celebrate Indigenous People’s Day from 10-11:50 a.m. Oct. 9 at Highline College’s main campus, Building 2, located at South 240th Street and Pacific Highway South in Des Moines.

Federal Way City Council Meeting: Oct. 10 at 6:30 p.m., City Council Chambers, 33325 8th Ave. S., 2nd Floor.

Candidate forum: Ahead of the general election, the Federal Way Mirror invites readers to attend a candidates forum from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 11 at the Federal Way High School theater. The forum will feature candidates for Federal Way School Board and candidates for Federal Way City Council. The forum will also be live-streamed on the Mirror’s Facebook page.
