Federal Way Farmers Market: Open 9 a.m. 3 p.m. Saturdays through October at The Commons mall in Federal Way in the south parking lot along South 324th Street and Pacific Highway.

Civic Education and Voter Registration Trainings: Participants at this workshop will learn the legislative process in Washington state, and explore the importance of citizen participation through history and recent bills. Led by system-impacted facilitators, the program centers on BIPOC and incarcerated perspectives, making civic education inclusive, empowering and healing-focused. There are three upcoming opportunities: 3 to 5:30 p.m. Sept. 26 at 32275 32nd Ave. S. in Federal Way, 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 29 virtually, and from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sept. 30 also at 32275 32nd Ave. S. Taste of Federal Way: Try tasty bites from local favorites and support a local nonprofit at the annual event from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 27 at the Commons Mall. For the entry fee of $25, guests will get a small item from each restaurant and have the opportunity to vote for which one should win the people’s choice award.

Free Drive Thru Recycling: Bring up to three large appliances to recycle and/or small to medium sized electronics, as well as all your sensitive documents to shred from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 27 at the South King Tool Library, located at 1700 S. 340th St. in Federal Way.

Branch Out at Pacific Bonsai Museum: Pacific Bonsai Museum’s Board of Directors is hosting a fundraiser for the museum from 1 to 4 p.m. Sept. 28. Enjoy stunning bonsai, hear live entertainment including local jazz singer Greta Matassa and Arx Duo, a performance marimba group and cheers to new friends with delicious bites and libations, all in celebration of Pacific Bonsai Museum, located at 33663 Weyerhaeuser Way S. in Federal Way.

Spaghetti Feed Fundraiser: The Federal Way Coop Preschool is fundraising to support preschool kids and families through a night of pasta, fun and community from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 29 at Pizza, Pasta and Co. by Gino’s at 4624 S.W. 320th St. in Federal Way. Contact 253-293-5880.

Arts, Culture and Heritage Candidate Forum: Join Federal Way’s mayoral and city council candidates who are running in the Nov. 4 election in a discussion specific to the future of the community’s rich and diverse arts, culture and heritage. Moderated by the League of Women Voters of Washington, this inaugural event is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Sept. 30 at the KOAM Studios, 32008 32nd Ave. South, Federal Way. Sponsors are Arts Foundation Federal Way, Federal Way Symphony, Federal Way Chorale, Centerstage Theatre and KOAM TV. The Federal Way Chorale will present the national anthem at 5:50 p.m.

Coffee with a Cop: Meet your Federal Way Police officers in a relaxed setting (no speeches, no agenda, just community) from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Oct. 2 at Chick-fil-A, located at 32023 Pacific Highway S. in Federal Way.

Fall Festival: Join the Performing Arts and Event Center for its Fall Festival from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 4. There will be live music, bounce house, fun and games, and local vendors showcasing their crafts and offering food for purchase. Families can also enjoy a variety of craft opportunities, participate in our community art project, and sit for a screening of Disney’s “Coco” in the theater at the PAEC, located at 31510 Pete von Reichbauer Way S. in Federal Way.

Mirror’s candidate forum: The Federal Way Mirror’s 2025 candidate forum will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Family Life Community Church’s auditorium, 32275 32nd Ave. S., Federal Way. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served. The evening will be split between the mayoral candidates (Jim Ferrell and Susan Honda) and the council candidates (Martin Moore, Nathan Orth, Tammy Dziak, Melissa Hamilton, Jack Dovey, Les Sessoms). Creating Generational Greatness: Build 2 Lead is hosting an event for young entrepreneurs and professionals from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 11 at the Family Life Center located at 32275 32nd Ave. S. in Federal Way. The event will feature networking opportunities, workshops, food, raffles and more.

Southend Friends for Peace and Justice: A demonstration takes place from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. every Sunday on the corner of 320th and Pacific Ave. S. The next large peaceful protest will take place on Oct. 18.
