Federal Way second grader helps feed the hungry

Steven Lee Irwin, a second grader at Panther Lake Elementary, did something extraordinary in support of the school’s annual food drive: He brought in 440 cans of food to the school council by hitting the pavement and asking his community for support.

“This is Steve’s second year of going door to door and asking his neighbors to donate food,” said Rita Chaudhuri, Principal at Panther Lake Elementary. “Steven really wants to help people who are hungry and need food, so he walks his neighborhood, every year, knocking on doors and asking for donations. His neighbors thank him for his efforts and ask him to keep up the good work.”

Panther Lake Elementary is located at 34424 First Ave. S. in Federal Way.
