Federal Way City Councilmember Leandra Craft announced her campaign to retain Position 5 on the Federal Way City Council. Craft was appointed to the Council last October.

Craft is a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney with the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. In addition to her work in the General Crimes Unit, she has taken a leading role in prosecuting Hate Crime cases.

Craft, the daughter of Filipino immigrants, is a longtime Federal Way resident.

“I grew up here. It’s where my husband and I chose to buy our home and raise our daughter. I want to give back to the community which has given so much to me,” said Craft. She lives in the Puget Sound Hills neighborhood of Federal Way with her husband, their 18-month old daughter, and their cat.

“Leandra comes into this role with valuable lived experiences and brings a fresh perspective. She isn’t afraid to ask questions and hear different opinions.” said Jeanne Burbidge, former Mayor of Federal Way.

In her brief time on the City Council she has reviewed the biennial budget and has advanced Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts for the City of Federal Way. Craft has focused on issues of community safety, housing affordability, economic development and recovery.

Craft has received strong community support and already reported over $10,000 in individual contributions. She has been endorsed by U.S. Congressman Adam Smith, Attorney General Bob Ferguson, former Federal Way Mayor Jeanne Burbidge, among other local leaders.
