Journalists are not ‘dirty, godless, hateful people’

The Aug. 21 issue of the Seattle Times and many other media sources quoted remarks by Spokane GOP lawmaker Matt Shea for calling journalists “dirty, godless, hateful people.” Shea is one of eight members of a task force to figure out how the Washington Legislature should keep and disclose public records.

The Tacoma News Tribune reported ‘”More Spokane GOP members resign over white nationalist flap.” Spokane County Republican Chairwoman Cecily Wright, Abigail Osborne and Vitaliy Maksimov stepped down after 22-year-old white nationalist James Allsup was featured at a local meeting.

The Seattle Times reported Matt Manweller, R-Ellensburg, is suing Central Washington University after they sacked him for inappropriate behavior.

The Idaho Statesman reported a cutout of President Trump holding Hillary Clinton in a headlock at the Republican booth at the Western Idaho Fair was removed.

USA Today reported North Carolina districts must be withdrawn because of unconstitutional gerrymandering favoring Republicans over Democrats.

There is a pattern here: the Republican Party of Miloscia, Greene, Kochmar, Trump and others is attacking the media for reporting the facts.

The people who listen to right-wing radio and watch Fox News do not know these truths. But now that you do know, follow the lead of long-term King County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg and leave the Republican party of bigotry.
