Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log.

Lyft driver assault: At 2:49 a.m. Aug. 13 at Avery at the Reserve, 125 SW Campus Drive, police responded to an attempted robbery. According to the report, a Lyft driver dropped off a passenger, who then attempted to steal the driver’s phone. The driver tried to stop it and was punched in the face twice, but ended up retrieving his phone. However, his wallet was stolen. The driver does not want to write a report or assist in prosecution. He only wants his property back.

Paintballs: At 2:57 a.m. Aug. 13 near the 28000 block of Pacific Highway South, police responded to a call from a woman who said someone had shot paintballs from a car window at her. She stated it was someone in a red vehicle who shot what she believed to be paintballs at her while she was waiting at a bus stop. She said she had blue paint on her pants and shirt, but was uninjured. No other suspect information is available.

Knife assault: At 9:52 a.m. Aug. 11 near the 100 block of SW 332nd Street, officers responded to St. Francis ER for a stabbing. They made contact with the victim who advised their significant other was the one who cut their arm with a kitchen knife.

Pointed gun: At 12:41 p.m. Aug. 11 near the 33000 block of Pacific Highway South, officers responded to a call of a male pointing a gun at the listed residence. Once police arrived, it was discovered that another male reported the gun to police in order to get them to arrive quicker. They found that the female on scene had a warrant with Federal Way. The warrant was confirmed and a summons was issued.

Metal bat chase: At 1:30 a.m. Aug. 10 near the 31000 block of Pacific Highway South, two victims arrived at 7-Eleven, according to the police report. They were then confronted by the first victim’s aunt, who had blocked in the second victim’s car to prevent them from leaving. An argument ensued, and the aunt grabbed a handgun from her trunk. The first victim ran inside the store fearing she would be shot. The aunt put the gun back and instead grabbed a metal bat and started chasing the second victim. The aunt and her boyfriend fled in a black Nissan Altima. Both victims returned to their residence where they were contacted by police.

Domestic argument: At 1:37 a.m. Aug. 10 near the 2200 block of South Star Lake Road, a suspect got into an argument with his girlfriend. The argument reportedly escalated and numerous threats were made. The suspect then grabbed the bottom of a crib with an infant in it and flipped it, causing the baby to fall out. The suspect also reportedly spit on his girlfriend and the baby.

Hot dog: At 3:41 p.m. Aug. 9 near the 31000 block of Gateway Center Boulevard, a young female beagle mix was left unattended in a hot car at a hotel at the listed address. According to the report, police removed the hot dog from the car for her safety. The owner could not be located.

Brush fire: At 6:18 p.m. Aug. 9 near the 100 block of South 320th Street, an officer noticed smoke coming from a wooded parcel at the listed address with known homeless encampments. A brush fire was discovered inside the wooded area. It is unknown if the fire was intentional or accidental. No one was seen around and the fire was put out by the fire department.

Stabbing: At 12:12 p.m. Aug. 8 at the TJ Maxx store at 2400 S. 320th St., police responded to a call of a knife stabbing at the store. The suspect was described as a 50 year-old white male wearing a button down shirt and khaki colored shorts. The suspect was said to have been walking toward a nearby McDonald’s. Officers were able to locate the suspect, but after speaking with him, no additional or substantiated information was available to prove he was involved in any stabbing or assault. The subject was booked into SCORE jail for an existing Federal Way police warrant.

Swastikas: At 11:29 a.m. Aug. 8 near the 2100 block of SW 336th Street, police responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle parked at the listed address with a swastika spray painted on the back, and an 8-inch hole in the rear window, which appeared to have been made with a rock. The vehicle has reportedly been parked in a private lot near Rite Aid. Police were able to contact the owner in Maple Valley. His vehicle had broken down and he hasn’t been able to return to repair it. The spray paint and hole were not present when he last saw the vehicle. The owner says he will return to remove it as soon as possible. Police also spoke with the property management company and they are planning on having the car towed. No leads at this time.
