Crime too rampant, easy | Letter

I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired of crime in my immediate neighborhood. How often does someone get their car stolen, or their car broken into, or their home broken into… Daily! My neighbors and our neighborhood Green Gables blog is every day posting about new crimes against us, the homeowners, business owners and tax-paying citizens. My calls to the detective in charge of car theft go unanswered.
Did you know that if you loan your keys to someone – the local oil change business, a friend or a friend of a friend – that they can take your key to a local hardware store or auto dealer and have a duplicate made no questions asked? It’s true, and it’s a huge gap in our crime-fighting ability. My calls to the local Chevy dealer confirmed this practice, and when I asked if he had any misgivings about making duplicates to possible car thieves he said, “It’s not my problem.”
There ought to be a law against this practice! Beware Federal Way, the new crime central of South King County.
