Federal Way Boys & Girls Club receives artistic piano

The “Pianos in the Parks” program around King County ended late last month, but the parks’ loss became Federal Way Boys & Girls Club’s gain when one of the pianos was donated to the group’s teen center.

Pianos in the Parks placed 10 artistically enhanced pianos for public play in area parks and open spaces. At the outset of the program, which was funded by Laird Norton Wealth Management and local sponsors, each piano was auctioned off to be sent to the charity of the auction-winner’s choice, and an anonymous donor bid to have the piano sent to the Ron Sandwith EX3 Teen Center. The piano’s artistic enhancements were provided by artist Barbi Leifert.
