Volleyball player from Federal Way commits to university

Katrice Pond, a volleyball player at Christian Faith School, has signed her letter of intent to play for Grand Canyon University.

She also considered the University of New Orleans, University of Toledo and Colorado Mesa University. Pond is a two-time SeaTac 1B League MVP and helped lead Christian Faith School to the state 1B semi-finals and a third place finish this year.

She is the fifth player in the last three years from Christian Faith School to go on to play college volleyball and the first nationally ranked player from the school.

Grand Canyon University is one of the newest members of the Division 1 Western Athletic Conference, joining in 2013. It is located in Phoenix, Arizona. Pond will receive a full ride scholarship to the university.
