The Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden is offering music and food in the garden on Mother’s Day weekend, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 9-10.
Music and the sweet scents from Street Treats will fill the air as mothers and families relax on the beautiful Rutherford Conservatory Terrace and tour the garden. Classical guitar melodies by Leon Christian will set the scene for a relaxing visit. Christian will perform from 12-3 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday.
Each year in honor of our mothers, a beautiful plant is offered that represents all that we love about our mothers. Specially designed for Mother’s Day, the 2015 Mother’s Day Flower Collection features the beautiful Rhododendron “Fragrant Star,” which many consider to be the most fragrant deciduous azalea. Its large snowy white flowers top lovely blue foliage that look like stars in the sky.
The Mother’s Day Flower Collection makes the perfect living gift to commemorate Mother’s Day.
The Mother’s Day Flower Collection was launched in 2013 with Rhododendron williamsianum, followed in 2014 with Rhododendron “Wine and Roses.”
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 9-10, Street Treats will offer delicious homemade desserts and beverages, including tea and coffee.
The garden is located at 2525 S. 336th St., Federal Way. For information, visit rhodygarden.org or call 253-838-4646.
