BOYS BASKETBALL: Federal Way takes control of SPSL South with win over Beamer

The Federal Way Eagles took control of the South Puget Sound League South Division Friday nigh with a hard-fought, 61-55, win over Todd Beamer.

The Federal Way Eagles took control of the South Puget Sound League South Division Friday nigh with a hard-fought, 61-55, win over Todd Beamer.

The two teams entered the game tied atop the SPSL South with identical 6-1 records. Now, Federal Way leads the division at 7-1 and Beamer and Curtis follow with two losses in league play.

Beamer (7-4 overall, 6-2 SPSL South) rolled out to a 19-point lead late in the second quarter, but Federal Way outscored the Titans 39-21 in the second half thanks to the play of DeeShawn Tucker and Deonte Anderson. Tucker tallied a game-high 17 points and Anderson added 11 for the Eagles.

Beamer got 15 points from senior Thomas Rhodes and 11 from Roosevelt Jones.

 

Decatur — The Gators () remained perfect in SPSL 3A play with a 69-58 win over Bonney Lake Friday night on the road. The Panthers led 21-16 after the first quarter, but Decatur outscored Bonney Lake 41-24 in the second and third quarters to take control.

Dom Hunter finished with 17 points, Markus Rawls ended up with 16 and Abraham Ferrell-Logan chipped in 11.

Jefferson — Kentlake outscored the Raiders, 22-15, in the fourth quarter to beat TJ, 74-72, Friday night.

The Raiders (5-6 overall, 3-5 SPSL North) were led by the 18 points of Kendall Green, 13 from Daniel Park and 12 from Daryon James.
