Female pedestrian killed in I-5 collision near Federal Way/Kent

A 33-year-old Seattle woman was killed early Monday morning, Aug. 10 along northbound Interstate 5 in Federal Way near the Kent/Federal Way border just south of South 272nd Street.
The woman reportedly exited a vehicle at about 12:17 a.m. while it was still in motion in lane three and then was struck by a vehicle between lanes one and two, according to the Washington State Patrol. The woman ended up on the right shoulder and died at the scene.
Both vehicles came to a controlled stop on the right shoulder. A 40-year-old Tacoma man was driving the vehicle the woman exited, according to the State Patrol. The other vehicle didn’t remain at the scene and was described as “unknown” by the State Patrol.
The cause of the collision is under investigation, according to the State Patrol. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were involved. The roadway was blocked for about 3 hours and 45 minutes.
