Friday to Monday, detours are planned around Enchanted Parkway.
From 10 p.m. on July 24 to 5 a.m. on July 27, all lanes of of State Route 161/Enchanted Parkway South in Federal Way will be closed between Milton Road SOUTH/20th Ave. S and 28th Ave. S.
The closure is part of a fish barrier removal project along a tributary to Hylebos Creek.
Signed detours will be there to guide traffic (which includes drivers, cyclists and pedestrians) around the work zone and local access will be permitted to homes and businesses along SR-161,
A 25-foot box culvert will be put in place of an existing pipe culvert that prevents fish from swimming upstream.
Two other Hylebos Creek tributaries will undergo similar improvements during a 10-day closure of SR-161 between 28th Ave. S and Military Road South, which is tentatively planned to take place from the evening of Friday Aug. 7 to early Monday, Aug. 17.
The five-year project is set to complete in fall 2026, and will open more than 1.5 miles of potential upstream habitat for native and migrating fish.
