A 19-year-old man died as a result of a crash on Military Road.
According to the King County Medical Examiner, Keian Mabalo died on May 20 as a result of an incident on May 19 at 31655 Military Road South, Auburn. His cause of death was multiple blunt force injuries, the location was the roadway, and his manner of death was an accident.
According to King County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Brandyn Hull, just before midnight on May 19, deputies responded to an injury accident just north of South 320th Street and Military Road, and they found a car with serious damage on the driver’s side.
“Our investigation shows that he was driving north on Military Road South at a high rate of speed when he lost control, swerved off the road, struck a tree, and landed in a ditch,” Hull said. “The fire department extracted him from the car and gave him aid.”
Hull said that Mabalo was transported to Harborview Medical Center, but medical staff later told the sheriff’s office that he did not survive his injuries. Hull said factors contributing to the crash were speed and the lack of a seatbelt being worn.
Mabalo was a Thomas Jefferson High School class of 2025 graduate, according to a graduating class report from the Federal Way Mirror.
