Opening day of the Federal Way Farmers Market on May 9 featured a new location on S. 316th Street and food trucks.

Most Saturdays: Federal Way Farmers Market: 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. from May 9 to September 26, 2026 in new location at S 316th Street between Town Square Park and the Federal Way Performing Arts and Event Center.

May 8-16: The Sound of Music: Federal Way High School drama and music departments are performing “The Sound of Music” at the FWHS Theatre, located at 30611 16th Ave. S.

May 16: The Sounds of Spring – Americana: Join the Federal Way Chorale as they celebrate America’s Semiquincentennial. Over the past 250 years, America has given rise to a rich tapestry of music across every genre. The Chorale will bring to life familiar classics alongside some exciting new favorites. May 16: Blue Poppy Day: The mystical Himalayan blue poppy, Meconopsis, will grace us with its ethereal beauty once again at the Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden. Come celebrate these fabulous flowers from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the garden, located at 2525 S. 336th St., Federal Way.

May 16: Touch-A-Truck: From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. this free family event lets you explore the vehicles and equipment that build, serve, and protect our community, from ambulances and service vehicles to big rigs and tractors in the Wild Waves parking lot located at 36201 Enchanted Pkwy. S. in Federal Way.

May 17: Jazz Police: The contemporary big band celebrates its first 40 years — they swing, they rock, they inspire. Live from 5 to 7 p.m. at Marine View Presbyterian Church, 8469 Eastside Drive NE in Tacoma.

May 17: Line Dance for the Soul: This beginner-friendly line dance class will be hosted by the Trap Lab from 3 to 4 p.m. at 1646 SW Dash Point Rd Suite A in Federal Way. Come learn culture classics, current favorites, and more in a space that’s fun, welcoming, and full of good energy.

May 18: Learn to ride Metro Transit: Meet at 1 p.m. at 1200 S. 336th St. in Federal Way to join MSC and King County Metro Travel Trainer Instructors to learn how to navigate the transit system. Whether you’re new to public transportation or looking to build confidence, this workshop empowers you to travel independently and safely throughout King County.

May 18: CTE Scholar Showcase: Are you curious to see what middle and high school scholars are learning about in FWPS CTE courses? Join FWPS at the first CTE Scholar Showcase on from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Todd Beamer High School located at 35999 16th Ave. S. in Federal Way.

May 19: FW City Council meeting: Federal Way City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall on the second floor in Council Chambers, 33325 8th Ave. S. in Federal Way.

May 20: Rotary Club Bingo Social: Rotary Club of Federal Way invites you to an afternoon of bingo and fun from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Federal Way Performing Arts & Event Center. The event is free to attend and open to all community members ages 55 or older. Deadline to RSVP is May 10.

May 21: Bike Safety Event: This event will feature a variety of bike safety, giveaway and educational and fun activities from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Mirror Lake Elementary located at 625 S 314th St in Federal Way.

May 22 to June 14: Centerstage presents ‘She Loves Me’: Anonymous letters and mistaken identities entwine with a gorgeous score and wonderful characters in this delightfully elegant musical comedy performed at the Knutzen Family Theater in Federal Way.

May 23: Federal Way Collective Pop Up: From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Make it Healthy Juice Bar located at 1620 S 312th St. Suite C in Federal Way, enjoy a full of local vendors, small businesses, good vibes, unique finds, treats, self-care, and more.

May 23: Freedom Rooted Fitness Community Walk Club: Join other women in the community at 11:30 a.m. at the Des Moines Creek Trail for a two mile walk and event featuring raffle prizes and matcha.

May 23: Field of Honor Memorial Day Event: Join the Rotary Club of Federal Way for a Field of Honor event in recognition of Memorial Day with a ceremony at 9 a.m. followed by at Pancake Breakfast at 10 a.m. The pancake breakfast is $10 per person (vets eat free) and all proceeds will benefit disabled veterans. The Field of Honor will be hosted at 31919 6th Ave. South in Federal Way.

May 23: R&B Werk Party | Dance Fitness & Karaoke Night: Hosted by the Trap Lab from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. this event will be a high energy work out where singing your heart out is encouraged. The Trap Lab is located at 1646 SW Dash Point Rd Suite A in Federal Way.

May 24: Soulful Serenity | Meditation and Mimosas: Enjoy a reset with yoga, guided meditation and mimosas from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Trap Lab located at 1646 SW Dash Point Rd Suite A, Federal Way.

May 25: Zain Zohaib: This duo is described as “among the most captivating Qawwali duos of the modern era. Carrying forward the rich Sufi tradition with powerful vocals and contemporary energy, they bring an unforgettable live experience to the stage.” Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. at the FW PAEC.

May 29: Poetry and Prosecco: Be inspired by the voices of our community with an evening of Open Mic Poetry, Spoken Word, and Prosecco specials from 7 to 9 p.m., hosted by Brother Evan Cook and DJ Jay Marr at Pretty Young Chef Sweets and Wine Bar located at 32925 1st Ave S. Suite. S in Federal Way.

May 29: Stroll through Pasifika: In honor of NH/PI Heritage Month, PICA-WA’s monthly info-session for May will be a small gathering to showcase Pacific Islander art, culture, and food. Participants can take part in hands-on cultural demonstrations, enjoy food, culture art and handicrafts from our local Pacific Islander communities, plus connected to local health & wellness providers, programs, and resources.

May 29 to May 31: Arts Explosion: The Federal Way Arts Commission is hosting the 4th annual “Arts Explosion” Juried Art Show Festival, taking place from May 29 to May 31 at the Performing Arts and Events Center. This festival will celebrate the diversity of Federal Way, showcasing the talents of both adult and youth artists, while promoting artistic growth and community engagement. “Arts Explosion” will feature the display, judging, and sale of artwork in five categories. May 30: Free Drive-Thru Recycling: Bring your mattresses and tires for recycling and documents for shredding to this FREE drive-thru event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the South King Tool Library located at 1700 S 340th St in Federal Way.

May 30: Camp Kilworth Open House: The YMCA of Greater Seattle is hosting an Open House on from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bring the whole family to explore Camp Kilworth’s forest trails, meet YMCA staff, and get a sneak peek at the outdoor adventures waiting for kids this summer. May 30: Your Hope and Future Celebration: This fundraising event will support transitional housing and outreach programs serving individuals overcoming homelessness, addiction, and incarceration. Guests will enjoy comedian Jason Earls, uplifting worship and cultural celebration, dinner, silent auction items, and stories highlighting the impact of the Jesus is God Ministry (JIGM) housing and outreach. May 30-31: Spring Showcase: The Sleeping Beauty – Aurora’s Wedding: Adage Ballet Academy proudly presents this new one-act adaptation inspired by the broader fairytale universe of Charles Perrault. Beautifully staged at just over one hour in length, this production is a perfect introduction to ballet, designed for audiences of all ages and will be performed at the FW PAEC located at 31510 Pete von Reichbauer Way S.

June 5: Seniors Night Out: From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. June 5, enjoy an evening of live music, dinner and dancing for those 50 and older at the Federal Way Community Center, located at 876 S. 333rd St. in Federal Way. June 5: Community Resource Fair: Access resources from free clothes, to free cell phones, youth support and programs, employment information, job resources and more at this monthly free event from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Family Life Center located at 32275 32nd Ave. S. in Federal Way.

June 6: Yard Waste Collection & Woodchipping: This free community event is an opportunity for responsibile disposal and recycling and will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the South King Tool Library, 1700 S 340th St in Federal Way.

June 6: Community Clean Up: From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. get together with neighbors from Tacoma and Federal Way for a combined effort to keep both cities clean along the NE Tacoma/Federal Way Boundary. Details will be emailed after registration at: www.surveymonkey.com/r/JDWFD5N

June 12: Los Pescadores del Rio Conchos: Armani Night Club will feature live music starting at 2012 S. 320th St., Suite 0 in Federal Way.

June 13: Juneteenth Celebration: Phenomenal She is partnering with KCLS for the city’s annual Juneteenth celebration from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Federal way King County Library. The event will feature food, retail, health and fitness, entertainment and self care activities and vendors, highlighting Black-owned businesses and organizations.

June 13: Flag Day & 50th Anniversary: The Soroptomists of Federal Way will be hosting an event from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the King County Aquatic Center Banquet Hall, located at 650 SW Campus Dr in Federal Way.

June 14: Andrea Lisa: The South African-born and New Zealand-raised guitarist, vocalist and composer continues to mesmerize audiences worldwide. Live from 5 to 7 p.m. at Marine View Presbyterian Church, 8469 Eastside Drive NE in Tacoma.

June 18 through June 21: Friendship Theatre production of Disney’s Frozen Jr: This inclusive theatre program features a talented cast of performers of all abilities bringing the beloved story of Anna, Elsa, Olaf, and friends to life on stage. With memorable songs, colorful characters, and plenty of heart, this family-friendly production is perfect for audiences of all ages. Performed at Knutzen Family Theatre located at 3200 SW Dash Point Rd. in Federal Way.

June 19-21: Kickin’ It Federal Way Festival: A three-day festival celebrating the culture and excitement coming to the Pacific Northwest in 2026. The festival will include a watch party of FIFA World Cup 2026 games, live music, games and activities for families, soccer tournaments and clinics, food vendors, and more. All activities will be free for attendees.

June 30: Veterans, Seniors and Human Services Resource Event: The Department of Community and Human Services’ Veterans, Seniors, and Human Services Levy (VSHSL) Supportive Community Outreach Programs and Engagement (SCOPE) team is hosting an event from 4 to 7 p.m. to connect people to education, employment, food assistance, legal services, supports for survivors of domestic violence and much more at the PAEC located at 31510 Pete Von Reichbauer Way S.

July 4: Red, White and Blues Festival: Enjoy live music, food vendors, and family fun all day at Celebration Park, located at 1095 S. 324th St. Federal Way. The main stage lights up at 4 p.m. with diverse performers. Don’t miss the fireworks at 10:15 PM. Bring lawn chairs and blankets for comfort. Admission and parking are free for all.

July 8: Free concert – Po’okela Street Band: From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Steel Lake Park located at 2410 S. 312th St., Federal Way, enjoy island style music that brings vibrant rhythms and feel good vibes to kick off this free summer concert series.
