April 24: Intro to the Sound Booth: From 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., learn about the equipment and software in the free sound recording booth in the Makerspace at the Federal Way Library located at 34200 1st Way S.

April 24: Family Building Night (with Pizza!) Head to Bricks & Minifigs for a family building experience and dinner from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. $25 gets you one base plate, unlimited Legos, 2 hours of building time and pizza, plus take home whatever you create. April 24: Poetry and Prosecco: Be inspired by the powerful voices of the community with an evening of Open Mic Poetry, Spoken Word, and Prosecco specials hosted by Evan Cook and DJ Jay Marr at 7 p.m. at PYC Sweets and Wine Bar, located at 32925 1st Ave. S., Suite S, in Federal Way.

April 24: Tamborazo La Concha y Grupo Effectivo DGO: Armani Night Club will feature live music starting at 9 p.m. at 2012 S. 320th St., Suite 0 in Federal Way.

April 24-25: Tuber and Garden Plant Spring Sale: Join the Street Court Garden for a vibrant seasonal sale featuring an incredible selection of plants, dahlia tubers, and fresh-cut flowers. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just getting started, you’ll find unique varieties, locally grown favorites, and plenty of inspiration to bring your garden to life. April 25: Emery the Emergency Penguin: Invite friends and family to come learn about safety, participate in Emery’s Safety Scavenger Hunt, and celebrate local 911 Telecommunicators for all they do from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Highline MAST Aquarium at Redondo, located at 28203 Redondo Beach Dr. S in Des Moines. This event celebrates Emery the Emergency Penguin’s 11th Birthday and his new Safety Sea Pals.

April 25: 22nd annual Special Needs Fishing Derby: The Lions of Zone N-4 invite pre-school and school age special needs youth to the 22nd annual Special Needs Youth Fishing Derby from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Auburn Mill Pond Park at 600 Oravetz Road. Bring your fishing rod, some bait, favorite chair and be ready for great fun. Siblings and friends welcome. Special needs youth will have the first opportunity to fish. April 25: Federal Way Collective Vendor Pop-up: Shop from local makers and creatives in the community at this pop-up from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Make it Healthy Juice Bar, located at 1620 S. 312th St., Suite C. Featuring Cynful Potions handcrafted beauty products, Aurade Jewelry, Premier Carpet Cleaning, Heavenly Crafter, Pink Sloth Creations, Linked by Luxury, Candles by Debbie, Handful of Treats and Lavender Lady 253.

April 25: Raffle Glow Dance Party and Silent Auction: The Federal Way Co-op Preschool is hosting a glow dance party fundraiser from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 29645 51st Ave. S., Auburn (inside Federal Way United Methodist Church). The event will feature fun for the whole family including face painting, arts an crafts, games, raffles and more. Entry to the event is free and activities are only $1.

April 25: Garifuna Heritage Month: Garifuna Heritage Month is a time dedicated to honoring the resilience, history, and cultural legacy of the Garifuna people. This celebration uplifts the community’s language, music, food traditions, spirituality, and the intergenerational knowledge that continues to shape their identity. This celebration will take place at 3 p.m. in Town Square Park, located at 31620 Pete von Reichbauer Way S.

April 25: Mending Fair with the Refugee Artisan Initiative: For those who have clothes that need mending or hemming, this is a free opportunity to get up to two articles of clothing repaired. There are two sessions available and registration is open now to make sure you get in. One session is from 1 to 3 p.m. and the other is from 3 to 5 p.m. and both will take place at the Federal Way 320th Library, located at 848 S. 320th Street.

April 25: Whiskers and Paws Gala: Help raise funds for the Auburn Valley Humane Society through a silent and live auction, appetizers, dinner, program, and raise the paddle. 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the FW PAEC, 31510 Pete von Reichbauer Way S.

April 25: Sound and Painting Workshop: Join Gina Rusconi and Katie Beloved for a transformative experience blending yoga, painting, and sound healing, all centered around the Throat Chakra. 3 p.m. at Three Trees Yoga located at 204 S. 348th St., Suite 2 in Federal Way

April 25: World Tai Chi Day: This free event will feature guided Tai Chi, Qigong, mindfulness and community connection from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Pacific Bonsai Museum located at 2515 S. 336th St. in Federal Way.

April 26: Soulful Serenity Meditation and Mimosas: Start off the year with 90 minutes of your time from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Trap Lab, located at 1646 SW Dash Point Rd., Suite A, in Federal Way. Led by instructor Tawanna, this event will guide you in how to embody the beauty and power within yourself.

April 26: Paint and Sip – Monet’s Whispering Willow: Paint a peaceful, Monet-inspired scene with a gentle willow tree beside calm, reflective water from 12 to 2 p.m. at Pinot’s Palette located at 1066 S. 320th St., Building K, Suite A/B, Federal Way. Soft greens, blues, and flowing brushstrokes create a serene, impressionistic feel that’s relaxing and beginner-friendly.

April 28: Swan Lake: A world-class cast of ballet dancers from Moldova, Spain, Italy, Kyrgyzstan, Romania, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Poland, the United States, Japan, Turkey, Armenia, Tajikistan, Belarus and principal dancers from Ukraine will perform Swan Lake at 7 p.m. at the PAEC, 31510 Pete von Reichbauer Way S.

April 28: School Board Meeting: Attend the Federal Way Public Schools board meeting at 6 p.m. at Silver Lake Elementary, located at 1310 SW 325th Pl. in Federal Way.

April 30: Federal Way Town Hall Meeting: Join Mayor Jim Ferrell, Federal Way City Council members and City of Federal Way staff for a neighborhood connection town hall meeting at 6 p.m. at Olympic View K-8 located at 2626 SW 327th St. in Federal Way.

May 1: Community Resource Fair: Access resources from free clothes to free cellphones, youth support and programs, employment information, job resources and more at this monthly free event from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Family Life Center located at 32275 32nd Ave. S. in Federal Way.

May 1: Storm Large: Described as a “a musical force of nature — part rock goddess, part cabaret siren, and all powerhouse performer.” See her live at 7:30 p.m. at the FW PAEC located at 31510 Pete von Reichbauer Way S.

May 2: I’m Hooked Kids Fishing Event: In partnership with the I’m Hooked Inc. and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, spend the day outdoors starting at 7 a.m. (rain or shine), engage in angler education, fishing, and health and wellness activities. Community mentors will help guide your child and family in the art of fishing, nature, health, and wellness and instill a love and passion to enjoy for years to come.

May 2: Celebrate Centerstage 2026: On May 2, join Centerstage Theatre for an evening celebrating the accomplishments of the past year and discovering what is in store for the future. The evening will include live entertainment and more. Visit centerstagetheatre.com.

May 2: Federal Way Cars and Coffee: Meet up with other car enthusiasts of all kinds from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for a relaxed Saturday morning meet up. Bring your ride, grab a coffee and connect with the local car community at 201 Browns Point Blvd. in Federal Way.

May 2: Free Comic Book Day and Spring Craft Market: Meet local artists, select free comics, take advantage of deep discounts, shop hand-crafted goods from local vendors and even meet Spider Man, all from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Midgard Comics, Games & More located at 1500 S. 336th St. in Federal Way.

May 2: Restorative Yoga Nidra Soundbath, a Workshop: Join Katie Beloved and Katie Bonnett for 2 hours of blissful deep rest and intention-setting through a restorative yoga practice, guided yoga nidra meditation and a therapeutic sound bath at 4 p.m. at Three Trees Yoga located at 204 S. 348th St., Suite 2 in Federal Way.

May 3: Mozart Requiem: Auburn Symphony joins forces with Seattle Pro Musica for a concert of profound beauty and emotional depth at 2 p.m. at the FW PAEC located at 31510 Pete von Reichbauer Way S.

May 6: PAEC Presents: Step Afrika! Experience the pulse, power, and pride of stepping with Step Afrika!, the world’s premier ensemble dedicated to this uniquely American dance form. Performing at 7 p.m. at the FW PAEC located at 31510 Pete von Reichbauer Way S in Federal Way, this event will feature a vibrant fusion of percussive dance, traditional African movement, contemporary choreography, and compelling storytelling.

May 7: FW City Council meeting: Federal Way City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall on the second floor in Council Chambers, 33325 8th Ave. S. in Federal Way.

May 8-16: The Sound of Music: Federal Way High School drama and music departments are performing “The Sound of Music” at the FWHS Theatre, located at 30611 16th Ave. S.

May 9: FW Farmers Market: Federal Way Farmers Market will open in its new location on Saturday, May 9, the day before Mother’s Day. The market runs 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each Saturday through Sept. 26 (no market on July 4). This year’s market will look a bit different in its new home in the city center, where it will fill 316th Street between the Performing Arts and Event Center (PAEC) and Town Square Park, and host approximately 60 vendors in 12’ by 12’ tents.

May 9: Meet author A.L. Hampton: Author A.L. Hampton will be signing books and meeting fans from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Federal Way Barnes & Noble located at 31325 Pacific Highway S. She’ll be signing copies of her spicy, dark paranormal romantasy series, “The Crown of the Seven Realms.”

May 9: Book Sale: The Friends of Federal Way Libraries are hosting a book sale from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.at the library lcoated at 848 S 320th St. Browse used books, DVDs, CDs and more to raise funds for literacy and self-enrichment programs for adults, teens and children in Federal Way.

May 9: Big Band Concert II: Join the Federal Way Big Band for a second concert of swing, jazz, and big band standards at 7 p.m. at the FW PAEC located at 31510 Pete von Reichbauer Way S.

May 9-10: BonsaiFEST!: A 2-day celebration of bonsai,this event recognizes World Bonsai Day on Saturday and Mother’s Day on Sunday at the Pacific Bonsai Museum located at 2515 S 336th St. in Federal Way. Join in for a family-friendly event featuring hundreds of living works of art, bonsai-making demonstrations, guided tours, games, food trucks, shopping, and more, all with free admission thanks to support from 4Culture.

May 12: Senior Health and Resource Fair: With 85 vendors, this will be the biggest annual senior resource fair yet and will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the PAEC, located at 31510 Pete von Reichbauer Way S. This event is hosted by the city and brings together vendors from a wide variety of services and resources geared toward seniors.

May 12: School Board Meeting: Attend the Federal Way Public Schools board meeting at 6 p.m. at Illahee Middle School located at 36001 1st Ave S in Federal Way.

May 13: Hot off the Presses Community Conversations: The Federal Way Mirror invites you to join the staff from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Poverty Bay Café for informal conversation, coffee, beer, wine and appetizers. Attendees can ask the newspaper staff about their work or talk about issues affecting the region, such as homelessness, addiction and development, all while supporting a local business and the work of nonprofit FUSION to serve families in need. Each event features a community speaker on a topic/organization important to the Federal Way community. Poverty Bay Café is located at 1108 S. 322nd Place in Federal Way, north of Celebration Park.

May 13: Free Food Preservation Workshop: Join the City of Federal Way from 5 to 6:30 p.m. for a free food preservation workshop at the FW Community Center, 876 South 333rd Street. Learn about ways to reduce food waste, then prepare two styles of kimchi to take home. All materials provided, no experience necessary.

May 16: The Sounds of Spring – Americana: Join the Federal Way Chorale as they celebrate America’s Semiquincentennial. Over the past 250 years, America has given rise to a rich tapestry of music across every genre. The Chorale will bring to life familiar classics alongside some exciting new favorites. May 17: Jazz Police: The contemporary big band celebrates its first 40 years; they swing, they rock, they inspire! Live from 5 to 7 p.m. at Marine View Presbyterian Church located at 8469 Eastside Drive NE in Tacoma.

May 18: CTE Scholar Showcase: Are you curious to see what middle and high school scholars are learning about in FWPS CTE courses? Join FWPS at the first CTE Scholar Showcase on from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Todd Beamer High School located at 35999 16th Ave. S. in Federal Way.

May 25: Zain Zohaib: This duo is described as “among the most captivating Qawwali duos of the modern era. Carrying forward the rich Sufi tradition with powerful vocals and contemporary energy, they bring an unforgettable live experience to the stage.” Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. at the FW PAEC.

May 29 to May 31: Arts Explosion: The Federal Way Arts Commission is hosting the 4th Annual “Arts Explosion” Juried Art Show Festival, taking place from May 29 to May 31 at the Performing Arts and Events Center. This festival will celebrate the diversity of Federal Way, showcasing the talents of both adult and youth artists, while promoting artistic growth and community engagement. “Arts Explosion” will feature the display, judging, and sale of artwork in five categories. May 30: Clave Nueva: Armani Night Club will feature live music starting at 9 p.m. at 2012 S. 320th St., Suite 0 in Federal Way.

May 30-31: Spring Showcase: The Sleeping Beauty – Aurora’s Wedding: Adage Ballet Academy proudly presents this new one-act adaptation inspired by the broader fairytale universe of Charles Perrault. Beautifully staged at just over one hour in length, this production is a perfect introduction to ballet, designed for audiences of all ages and will be performed at the FW PAEC located at 31510 Pete von Reichbauer Way S.

June 5: Seniors Night Out: From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. June 5, enjoy an evening of live music, dinner and dancing for those 50 and older at the Federal Way Community Center, located at 876 S 333rd St. in Federal Way. The event will include a pasta dinner provided by Village Green Senior Living and will include dance tutorials by Arthur Murray dance company. Tickets are available at itallhappenshere.org/seniors.

June 13: Juneteenth Celebration: Phenomenal She is partnering with KCLS for the city’s annual Juneteenth celebration from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Federal way King County Library. The event will feature food, retail, health and fitness, entertainment and self care activiteis and vendors, highlighting Black-owned businesses and organizations.

June 18 through June 21: Friendship Theatre production of Disney’s Frozen Jr: This inclusive theatre program features a talented cast of performers of all abilities bringing the beloved story of Anna, Elsa, Olaf, and friends to life on stage. With memorable songs, colorful characters, and plenty of heart, this family-friendly production is perfect for audiences of all ages. Performed at Knutzen Family Theatre located at 3200 SW Dash Point Rd. in Federal Way.

June 19-21: Kickin’ It Federal Way Festival: A three-day festival celebrating the culture and excitement coming to the Pacific Northwest in 2026. The festival will include a watch party of FIFA World Cup 2026 games, live music, games and activities for families, soccer tournaments and clinics, food vendors, and more. All activities will be free for attendees.

July 4: Red, White ande Blues Festival: Enjoy live music, food vendors, and family fun all day at Celebration Park, located at 1095 S. 324th St. Federal Way. The main stage lights up at 4 p.m. with diverse performers. Don’t miss the fireworks at 10:15 PM. Bring lawn chairs and blankets for comfort. Admission and parking are free for all.

July 8: Free concert – Po’okela Street Band: From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Steel Lake Park located at 2410 S. 312th St., Federal Way, enjoy island style music that brings vibrant rhythms and feel good vibes to kick off this free summer concert series.

July 15: Free concert – BroHamM: From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Steel Lake Park located at 2410 S. 312th St., Federal Way, enjoy a high energy Motown, Funk, and R&B soul band guaranteed to get you moving in this free summer concert series.

July 22: Free concert – Presenting Paperback Writer: From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Steel Lake Park located at 2410 S. 312th St., Federal Way, enjoy a full Beatles experience featuring the timeless hits you know and love in this free summer concert series.

July 29: Free concert – Presenting Hair Nation:From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Steel Lake Park located at 2410 S. 312th St., Federal Way, enjoy an electrifying 1980s rock tribute that closes out July with big hair and even bigger sound.
