The Federal Way Mirror Female Athlete of the Week of April 10 from Decatur High School is Amaya Simmons (senior), track and field.

What is your favorite subject/class in school?

AVID.

Name your Mount Rushmore G.O.A.T. Athletes (Top 4):

Masai Russell, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, Simone Biles, Kobe Bryant.

What does it mean to be a good teammate? Why is it important to your success? What is one thing you do to help others around you?

Knowing your teammates and considering them in your actions. Always offering help without pushing your influence. Everyone learns differently and you should respect that. I had to learn my way.

If you could have dinner with anyone (living or from the past), who would it be? Why?

My 8th grade PE teacher and track coach Tom Eilertson.

You’re on a long road trip, you stop at a gas station. You get one drink and one snack. What are you choosing?

A winter berry Red Bull and flavor blasted Goldfish.

Describe your favorite post-game meal:

A Wendy’s crispy chicken biggie bag with fries, a strawberry lemonade and a chocolate frosty.

What is your Walk-up song?

“One More Hour,” by Tame Impala, or “Summer Love,” by Justin Timberlake.

From the sidelines: Amaya established new personal records this week in all four events in the Kentlake dual meet. She has consistently led our girls sprinters in the 100m dash, 100m hurdles, 200m dash and as anchor of the 4 x 100m relay team. Amaya has also participated in WIAA state championship events in girls diving and gymnastics at Decatur. She is an outstanding scholar-athlete earning a 3.434 cumulative grade point average and preparing to earn both her diploma and associate’s degree in June.
