On Friday, Aug. 12, from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., the Historical Society of Federal Way will hold a “Celebrate Jazz Fundraiser” at the Steel Lake Annex Museum at Steel Lake Park (on the south side of South 312th Street).

The event includes a 6 p.m. presentation from author and Seattle Times music critic Paul de Barros about the history of jazz in the greater Seattle area. Tacoma-based jazz group 322 is scheduled to play, and Arthur Murray Studio dancers will perform vintage dance routines.

The cost of admission is $25, including refreshments and appetizers, with all proceeds benefiting the Historical Society and its mission of “researching, preserving, educating and displaying the history of Greater Federal Way to build a sense of community identity and heritage.”
