Awards event to recognize Federal Way’s Peggy LaPorte canceled

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Oct. 10 awards banquet honoring Peggy LaPorte has been canceled.

The Association of Washington Generals recently announced that Laporte — who is president of Friends United to Shelter the Indigent, Oppressed and Needy (FUSION) — will receive the organization’s “Washingtonian of the Year” award.

The association will set the awards ceremony at a later date, officials said.
