School supply drive for Federal Way students underway

Federal Way Public Schools is working in partnership with Red Canoe Credit Union, Communities in Schools Federal Way and other community organizations to “Fill the Canoe” with school supplies for students who attend school in our district.
Red Canoe Credit Union will match donations pound for pound, effectively doubling the contribution of supplies for our district’s students.
The “Fill the Canoe” supply drive runs through Aug. 14. Donation boxes are located around the Federal Way community, including the RedCanoe Credit Union branch at 33616 Pacific Highway, Federal Way, and Federal Way Public Schools’ Educational Service Center building,located at 33330 Eighth Ave. S., Federal Way. Other sites include St. Francis Hospital, the Federal Way Chamber of Commerce and SylvanLearning Center.

No time to shop? A monetary, tax-deductible donation can be made to Supply our Students. You can drop off a check or cash at the district’s Educational Service Center, or mail it to the school district address above. Checks and envelopes should be made out and addressed to “Supply Our Students.”
Commonly needed school supplies include binders – 1, 1-1/2 or 2 inch; filler paper – wide or college ruled; composition books – wide or college ruled; backpacks; color markers; color pencils; Post it notes of any size; pencils and pens; protractors; rulers; pocket folders; USB drives; scissors; glue sticks; pencil pouch or box; pencil sharpeners; calculators; spiral notebooks – single subject size – college or wide ruled; paint sets; crayons – 24 count box; clipboard; 3×5 cards; dry erase markers; highlighters.
School supplies will be distributed to every school in the district, going to our highest need students.
