City Vision invites the public to learn more about the changes to graduation requirements during their community forum called World Cafe.
The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on May 7 at the 320th Street King County Library in Federal Way.
The state has set new credit requirements for students to graduate. Federal Way Public Schools is working to ensure all students have sufficient opportunity to get those credits, and time to explore electives. Students in the district’s high schools will be able to earn up to eight credits each year, beginning with the 2015-16 school year.
Interim Superintendent Sally McLean will give an overview of the topic and Erin Jones, the director for Advancement Via Individual Determination at Tacoma Public Schools, will moderate the program. Advancing Leadership Youth will serve as table captains.
The forum is co-hosted by Federal Way Public Schools, the Federal Way Library and CHI Franciscan Health. Attendees are welcome to enjoy a complimentary dinner at 6:30 p.m.; the program begins at 7 p.m.
Interpreters for Spanish, Korean and Russian will be available.
