South King Fire and Rescue recently held its annual employee awards banquet and recognized the outstanding work of their firefighters, officers and civilian staff.

Firefighter of the year for 2015 is Joe Perusse. He is a 28-year veteran who works out of Fire Station 65.

Perusse was nominated by his officer for his tireless commitment to the department’s GIS mapping program and outstanding customer service.

Officer of the year is 24-year veteran Captain Aaron Weeks. His nomination recognizes his revitalizing of the hazardous materials team, mentoring of his crew and involvement on and off duty for the department.

Firefighter John Ronald, who has 34 years with the fire department, was recognized for his career-long contributions of sustained excellence.

Firefighter Mickey McClain may only have two years on the job, but she received a well deserved award for her extensive community involvement.

Executive assistant Lauri Perry was the outstanding civilian employee for her many contributions to South King Fire and Rescue, including the responsibilities of records requests and a tremendous amount of behind the scenes work.
