Dash Point apartments murder suspect released while police investigate

A 20-year-old suspect in the 1 a.m. July 18 fatal shooting of 19-year-old Vadim Grib was released from jail July 22 pending further investigation, Dan Donohoe, King County Prosecutor’s Office spokesman, said Thursday.
The suspect was arrested the same day Grib was shot after a dispute over unknown reasons in the parking lot of the Park at Dash Point Apartments, 31736 50th Lane S.W. Police responded to a call of shots fired at the apartments and found Grib dead when they arrived. The King County Medical Examiner’s Office reported Grib died from a shotgun wound to the trunk of his body.
A second victim, a 22-year-old man, was later discovered by police at Auburn General Hospital. The man was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with life-threatening gunshot wounds. His condition was unknown Thursday.
The murder suspect was arrested Friday afternoon after being brought in for questioning, Federal Way police spokes-woman Cathy Schrock said. Prior to the shooting, approximately 15 people had gathered in the parking lot of the apartments for an unknown reason. An argument broke out, leading up to the shooting, she said.
Police are still working to reveal what led to the shooting. The Prosecutor’s Office needs more time to investigate the circumstances of the case before it will be ready to file charges against anyone, Donohoe said. A suspect in a criminal case can only be held for 72 hours without charge.
