Tracking the grads: Girls soccer players excelling in college

Jenna Peterson and Brittany Orr — The two 2008 graduates are both playing their junior seasons at Concordia University in Oregon. Peterson graduated from Decatur and Orr attended Beamer. Both defenders have started all six matches this year for 6-0-0 Concordia. Orr has two assists and Peterson has one assist.

Orr was named the Cascade Collegiate Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. Orr, a First-Team NAIA All-American last season, has returned to key a defense which has yet to allow a goal in six matches so far this season. Orr has never missed a start in her career, extending her streak to 53 matches. The Cavaliers are the top-ranked NAIA team in the country.

Peterson was an honorable mention All-American last season.

Holland Crook — The 2010 Beamer grad is playing her freshman season at Arizona State University. Crook, a forward, was an all-state selection three times in high school, as well as the state player of the year. This season, she has two assists in six matches for the Sun Devils. Arizona State is 5-0-1 overall.

Megan Miller and Jessica Niewoehner — The Beamer grads are both playing for the Oregon State Beavers. Miller, a midfielder, is a sophomore and Niewoehner is a freshman defender. Miller has started all four games for the Beavers, who are 4-0-0. Niewoehner hasn’t seen any game action.

Mallory Murray and Ashtin Rigney — Murray, a TJ grad, and Rigney, a Federal Way grad, are both playing at Highline CC. The Thunderbirds are 1-2-0 on the season.

Rachel Markey — The 2010 Decatur grad is playing her freshman season at Edmonds CC. The midfielder has three goals this season and Edmonds is 2-0-2 on the year.

Mackenzie Hickel — The 2010 Beamer grad has started two matches this season for the Boise State Broncos. The freshman midfielder has two shots on goal. Boise State is 3-4-0 on the season.

Cayla Dixon and Molly Campbell — The two Federal Way grads are playing at St. Martin’s University. Dixon, a senior defender, has started all of the Saints matches and Campbell, a freshman defender, has started two. St. Martin’s is 1-3-0 on the season.

Nicole Peterson — The 2008 Beamer graduate is currently playing her junior season at the University of Dayton. Peterson transferred from Seton Hall, where she played in 35 games. She has started three matches for the 6-2-0 Flyers.

Sara Byrne — The 2008 TJ grad is playing her junior year at Eastern Washington. The defender has started four matches this season and has one assist. She was named to the Big Sky All-Academic Team last year. Eastern is currently 0-4-1 on the season.

Michelle Borth — The 2007 TJ grad is playing her junior season at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Borth has played in four matches this season and has a goal. The team is 1-4-1 on the season.

Amy Pate — The TJ grad is playing her junior season at Central Washington University. The defender has started all four matches for the Wildcats and has one shot on goal. Central is 0-3-1 on the season.

Jordan Salisbury — The Beamer grad is playing her junior season at Seattle University. The defender has started all seven matches for the Redhawks and has one goal. Seattle U is 4-3-0 on the season.

Bree Rowe — The Federal Way grad is playing her junior season at the University of Oregon. The midfielder has played in five matches for the Ducks and has one shot on goal. Oregon is 2-3-2 overall.

Kelsey Learned — The TJ grad is playing her sophomore year at the US Naval Academy in Maryland. The midfielder has played in eight games this year and has three shots. The Naval Academy are 3-4-1 overall.
