Debbie Bruch Jahns

Debbie Bruch Jahns, age 51, passed away at her home in Federal Way on Jan. 22. She was surrounded by her loving family and went peacefully.

She was born July 21, 1955, in Oklahoma City, Okla., to Alvin and Berneice Bruch.

She married Steve Jahns on Nov. 22, 1980, in Tulsa, Okla., then moved to Washington in 1981.

Federal Way became home for Debbie, where she and Steve raised their two girls. Debbie was a 12-year employee in the Federal Way School District where she was a para-educator, office assistant, computer teacher, techie, and most recently a testing coordinator. She was involved in numerous aspects at Federal Way United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Steve; daughters Christine Jahns and Carol Workman; son-in-law Jess Workman; mother Berneice Bruch; sisters Ginny Staggers and Linda Sheffield; brother-in-law Ron Sheffield; five nephews, four nieces and numerous cousins and friends. A memorial service celebrating Debbie’s life was held Jan. 28 at Federal Way United Methodist Church. Donations on Debbie’s behalf can be made to The American Cancer Society, Cancer Relay for Life and Franciscan Hospice.
