Federal Way High School graduate Andre Piper-Jordan is currently playing for the Everett Raptors in the Indoor Football League. The Raptors have played two games so far this season and are 0-2. Piper-Jordan is a wide receiver.

The Raptors lost to the Tri-Cities Fever on Feb. 25, 70-44, and lost to the Allen Wranglers on March 1, 48-27. During the two losses, Piper-Jordan has three touchdown catches for Everett and had 114 yards during the loss to Tri-Cities. After catching a TD pass against Allen, Piper-Jordan hurt his shoulder and had to come out of the game.

Last year, he played for the Seattle Timberwolves, also of the IFL, and finished with 55 receptions, an IFL-best 987 receiving yards and 22 touchdowns while earning all-league honors.

The 2012 IFL season is the third for Piper-Jordan. He played in the 2003 East-West high school football game at Everett Memorial Stadium, later played basketball and baseball while attending Everett Community College in 2003-04, and faced the Everett AquaSox while a member of the Northwest League’s Vancouver Canadians in the 2005 and 2006 baseball seasons. He was drafted as a center fielder by the Oakland Athletics.

As a football player, Piper Jordan said, “you’ve got to love the outdoor game because that’s what you grew up playing. But the first time I played arena ball it was like, ‘Wow, this game is a lot faster.’ It’s very fast paced.”

The Everett Raptors are a first-year franchise who play their home games at the Comcast Arena.

• Decatur High School senior guard Dom Hunter will play in the 2012 Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association All-State games presented by Adidas and Cloud 9 Sports.

The games will be held on Saturday, March 10 at Curtis High School. The games will bring together the top boys basketball players from across the state for this showcase event.

Hunter’s Class 3A team will take on Class 4A at 6 p.m. The other games feature 1B vs. 2B at 2 p.m. and 1A vs. 2A at 4 p.m.

Doors open at 1 p.m. Cost is $10 per adult and $8 for seniors, high school students and children under 12. WSCA coaches get in free but must show WSCA pass for entry. There will be no exceptions.

Hunter averaged 20 points a game and led Decatur to the South Puget Sound League 3A Division championship and into the state tournament for the sixth year in a row.

Past players in this annual game include Brandon Roy, Aaron Brooks, Luke Ridnour, Jason Terry and Nate Robinson, just to name a few.

• Single-session tickets for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Diving are now available for sale.

The Trials will be held June 17-24, 2012 at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, and will spotlight the best divers in the United States.

The Trials will serve as the final team selection for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Competition will include men’s and women’s individual 3-meter springboard and 10-meter platform, and men’s and women’s synchronized 3-meter springboard and 10-meter platform competition.

Approximately 120 of the nation’s best divers are expected to vie for a spot on the 2012 U.S. Olympic Diving Team. Notable participants are expected to include three-time Olympian Troy Dumais, 2011 World platform silver medalist David Boudia, and 2008 Olympians Kelci Bryant, Chris Colwill, Mary Beth Dunnichay, Thomas Finchum, Haley Ishimatsu and Christina Loukas.

Single-session general admission tickets are $15 for the finals, $10 for semifinals and $5 for prelims. Reserved tickets are $100 for all sessions and $75 for finals only. Single session reserved tickets are $25 for finals, $15 for semis and $10 for prelims. Premium tickets are $135 for all sessions and $100 for finals only. Single session premium tickets are $35 for finals, $25 for semis and $15 for prelims.
