The Federal Way and Thomas Jefferson soccer teams remained on top of their respective divisions of the South Puget Sound League with wins Tuesday.

The Eagles (12-1-0) beat Curtis, 5-3, and the Raiders (10-0-3) dominated Kentridge, 5-0. The two teams appear headed to a collision in the SPSL championship game, which is slated for May 8.

Federal Way actually clinched at least a share of the SPSL South championship with the win over Curtis. The Eagles lead Puyallup by nine points with three matches remaining. Federal Way takes on Puyallup Saturday at Sparks Stadium and can win the SPSL South outright with a victory or a tie.

Against Curtis Tuesday, the Eagles got a pair of goals from Alex Lewis and single goals from Handson Pelogi, Garrett Brewer and Edwin Ortiz.

Jefferson remained unbeaten Tuesday with the win over Kentridge. Brandon Madsen and Isidro Prado-Huerta both finished with a pair of goals and Jamie Prado-Huerta netted TJ’s other goal. Luis Roman earned the shutout in goal for the Raiders.

With three games remaining, Jefferson has a six-point lead over second-place Mount Rainier in the SPSL North.

Beamer — The Titans (6-3-3) picked up a solid 2-1 win over the Bethel Braves Tuesday. Beamer’s goals came from Hayden Stewart and Kelvin Horne. Hassani Dotson finished with assists on both scores.

Softball

Beamer — It took a while, but the Emerald Ridge Jaguars took down the Todd Beamer Titans Tuesday in extra innings. The game was a battle for first place in the SPSL South Division. The 5-4 victory kept Emerald Ridge unbeaten (10-0) and dropped the Titans to 9-2 in league play.

Beamer tallied a single run in the top of the seventh to tie the game at 3-3 and send it to extra innings. Emerald Ridge scored the game-winning run with two outs in the ninth inning on an RBI-single from Chelsey Hayes.

Madison Rogers allowed only eight hits in 8 2/3 innings and struck out 13. Offensively, Halle Colson finished 2 for 4 with a pair of triples and Taylor Weimern-Pierce was also 2 for 4.

Jefferson — The Raiders were swept by first-place Tahoma Tuesday. Jefferson (9-6 overall, 8-5 SPSL North) lost 7-6 and 6-1 to the Bears (13-0 SPSL North).

In the opener, the Raiders tallied four runs in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game at 6-6. But Tahoma scored a run in the seventh to get the victory. Annalise Campbell finished 3 for 4 with two RBIs and a double for TJ.

In the nightcap, the Raiders could only muster one run. Campbell was 2 for 4 with a run and a triple and Reno Whitcomb finished 2 for 4.

Baseball

Federal Way — The Eagles (2-15 overall, 1-13 SPSL South) won their first SPSL South game of the season Tuesday over Curtis in extra innings, 9-8. After the Vikings tallied a run in the top of the eighth inning, Federal Way came back with two runs of their own in the bottom of the eighth to get the win.

Christian Jones ended up 2 for 3 with a home run and Ben Koler was 3 for 4 for the Eagles. Zach Hobbs earned the win on the mound.

Jefferson — The Raiders (8-9 overall, 6-9 SPSL North) lost a slugest to the Tahoma Bears Tuesday, 21-12. The Bears scored 16 runs in the final three innings to overcome a 11-5 TJ lead.

Offensively, the Raiders were led by Niko DelaCruz, who finished 2 for 3 with a home run, double and four RBIs. Sean Dolan finished with a pair of RBIs.

Beamer — The Titans (12-8 overall, 10-6 SPSL South) were shut out by first-place Emerald Ridge Tuesday, 4-0. Beamer finished with just two hits.

Singles — Lindsey Tyson beat Lika Garofalo, 6-4, 6-4; Nicole Bowman beat Natalie Jones, 6-0, 6-2.

Doubles — Jenny Hoefel-Kiele Bowman beat Brenna Bruil-Carson Heilborn, 6-1, 6-1; Alyssa Tyson-Tori Kaufman beat Sydnie LaValley-Lindsey Sanborn, 6-3, 6-2; Jenifer Tran-Kylie Fisher beat Rachel Wilson-Rachel Wood, 6-2, 6-2.
