Federal Way Mirror Female Athlete of the Week for May 5: Candace Nhye

Todd Beamer senior recently came close to breaking the school record in the 300M hurdles.

Todd Beamer High School senior Candace Nhye, track and field, is the Federal Way Mirror Female Athlete of the Week for May 5.

Q: What is your favorite subject/class in school?

A: Orchestra, Avid and jazz band.

Q: What hobbies do you enjoy outside of your sport?

A: Swimming, eating and sleeping.

Q: Who is the person in your life that has helped you succeed the most?

A: My parents. They believed in me all the times I didn’t believe in myself.

Q: If you could have dinner with anyone (living or from the past), who would it be?

A: My grandma because I am named after her and everyone says I am just like her.

Q: Describe your pre-meet ritual:

A: I warm up 30 minutes before my race. I set my blocks, pray, then go out and run the way my coach told me to.

Q: Song you currently can’t stop listening to?

A: “Heal Our Land” by Maverick City Music.

From the sidelines: TBHS senior Candace Nhye is focused and a very hard worker on the Titans track team. Once she sets her mind on something, she gets it done. This past weekend she almost broke the school record in the 300M hurdles. She came in first place in the 100M hurdles, 300M hurdles and placed third in the 4X100M relay and the 4X400M relay. She set a personal record in the 300M hurdles and in the 4X400M relay.
