Federal Way Mirror Athlete of the Week: Kellen Whiting

Whiting is team captain and is the number one singles player for the Gators

The Mirror’s male athlete of the week for Oct. 13 is senior Kellen Whiting of Decatur High School, tennis.

Q: What is your favorite subject/class in school?

A: Biology.

Q: What additional activities/hobbies do you enjoy?

A: I enjoy playing video games in my off time as well as lifting weights and walking my dogs.

Q: Name your Mount Rushmore (Top 4) of Movies?

A: “John Wick 4”, “2 Fast 2 Furious”, “Star Wars: A New Hope”, “Oppenheimer”

Q: You’re on a long road trip, you stop at a gas station. You get one drink and one snack. What are you choosing?

A: Sprite and Pringles.

Q: Describe your pre-game ritual, and post-game meal:

A: Pregame Ritual is I tell myself, “One game at a time”.

Post game meal is Mac-n-Cheese

Q: Song you currently can’t stop listening to?

A: Godzilla by Eminem

From the sidelines: Kellen is a four-year participant in the Decatur HS Boys Tennis program. He has been the number one singles player for the 2023 fall season. Kellen was the number two singles player last season. He has been an excellent representative of our team as captain. NPSL coaches and athletes have recognized Kellen’s competitive play and positive attitude. In the classroom, Kellen has earned a 3.668 cumulative grade point average as a full-time Running Start student.
