Miloscia: ‘UnAmerican’ and ‘unChristian’ | Q&A with Mr. Federal Way

Sen. Mark Miloscia: ‘UnAmerican’ and ‘unChristian’ | Q&A with Mr. Federal Way

Q: Mr. Federal Way, state Sen. Mark Miloscia posted on Saturday that the women’s marches taking place across the country were “unAmerican” and “unChristian.” How did Federal Way vote for such a disconnected legislator?

A: Oh, boy, Marky Mark. You done did it this time. Mr. Federal Way quotes thee:

“My prayers and wishes for success go out to President Trump, as he starts his duties as our President and Commander-in-Chief. May God grant him wisdom and peace as he addresses the many problems we face. May his family also be blessed, as they support him in his new role! I also had hoped that many of President Trump’s political enemies would have adopted the graciousness and morality of the Clintons and the Obamas toward Trump and the Office of the Presidency during this Inauguration, rather than the ugly, unAmerican, and unChristian protest activities we have seen yesterday and now today, across our state and nation by many people I know! For Shame! For Shame!” – Sen. Mark Miloscia, 4:37 p.m., Jan. 21, Facebook.

As of Wednesday, Miloscia’s statement garnered 517 Facebook reactions, 320 of which were the angry face, 159 of which were the blue thumbs up, 13 with the heart, 11 laughing, 7 crying and four in shock. There were 132 shares and 885 comments. Miloscia responded to some of them.

So now that Mr. Federal Way has audited your Facebook post, Mr. Federal Way must ask, did you audit your statement, Sen. Miloscia? Did you even think before your tiny little fingers on your tiny little hands fired off that Facebook post that reached nearly 4,000 people? (Mr. Federal Way is still scratching his head trying to figure out how Miloscia has nearly 4,000 people following him.) If Mr. Federal Way was Miloscia’s press person, I’d take the only lesson to be learned of Trump, which is to watch what you say on the Internet … but, then, again it’s understandable why this happened because, well, one need only say the words “Keith Schipper.”

Mr. Federal Way believes a senator such as Miloscia should be familiar with the laws of the land. Especially, I dunno, with a little law called the First Amendment. Mr. Federal Way thinks Marky forgot, so here it is: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

Tell Mr. Federal Way how the Constitution of the freakin’ United States is “unAmerican.” Tell Mr. Federal Way how peacefully marching against bigotry, sexism, misogyny, racism, xenophobia, an aversion to Mexicans and nearly everyone on this planet except rich white men is unChristian? Pretty sure Jesus said to love all people. Mr. Federal Way will let readers of the Mirror in on a little secret: Miloscia cares what the people think of him. Miloscia cares what Mr. Federal Way has written about him. It can be read here: www.federalwaymirror.com/letters/miloscia-mr-fws-nazi-imagery-insensitive-inappropriate-letter/.

Hear this, Miloscia: Protesting is American. Protesting the government is American. Christianity is not the religion of America, so what’s your point? Freedom rings, baby. And you, my friend, have reached your expiration date.

Waiting patiently for your letter, Miloscia. Love, Mr. Federal Way.

In case anyone wants to bug Miloscia with your own thoughts about what it means to be an American, here’s his email Mark.Miloscia@leg.wa.gov, and his phone number 360-786-7658.

Q: Mr. Federal Way, how do you feel about Publisher Rudi Alcott leaving?

A: None of your business.
